Postcards are capable of encapsulating so much considering their size. Furthermore, considering their apparent fragility, they are remarkably robust historical documents.
For instance, whilst browsing the web the other day, I came across an article on the website of Reflections of a Bygone Age, which desribes how the author first came to collect postcards. As he points out, it was not a desire to collect postcards per se, but a thirst for knowledge about some local engineering heritage which promptd his interest.
