Postcards have been used to depict military themes for almost as long as they have existed. Not only highly colourful depictions of soldiers in regimental regalia, but action shots of soldiers or military hardware. And of course the postcard has been used a great deal for propaganda purposes. They're small enough to carry in a pocket and yet large enough to convey a wealth of information, and of course they are easily mass produced.
